Conservation in Israel State of the Art

Israel is located on a crossroad of three continents that made it a crucial bridge for Nature, Human and Cultures passing through.

Israel is characterized by a huge amount and variety of cultural heritage sites spanning along periods, communities and religious.

In Israel there are 44000 registered Archaeological sites, which cover 20% of the lands of the country and thousands of Historic sites.

The variety of our Cultural Heritage in Israel includes Archaeological sites, Historic cities, villages and settlements, cultural and historic landscapes, Modern era Heritage, International style and Brutalist style Heritage (1920s – 1970s)

In the last two decades the Restoration Market is increasing due to the raised awareness of the importance of Cultural Heritage in the public opinion. This shift in awareness influence decision makers and it is supported by professional organizations and planning authorities. The collaboration with international organization such as ICOMOS, UNESCO, WH committee, contribute to the increase of Conservation activities. In the recent years, the growing of the conservation community and the activities resulted in initiatives such as annual conferences, international exhibitions, variety of publications and new local conventions.
